Strange Birds

JOCKEL works as a doorman for a large corporation. His daughter is becoming increasingly estranged from him, he doesn’t really know his wife, he hates his father, and his goal of working as a musician seems more distant than ever. After an assault committed in the heat of the moment, he is sentenced to community service in a workshop for disabled people. There he is supposed to lead a choir, but he can’t do anything with these people. However, the director as well as the authorities see it differently: if he fails, he will go to jail.

Distribution and festival facts

This micro-budgeted film was realized in co-operation with Gemeinnützige Werkstätten Oldenburg e.V. During the realization of the project, half of the ensemble consisted of professional actors on the one hand and the employees of the Werkstätten, i.e. people with disabilities, on the other – making the film Germany’s first inclusive ensemble comedy.
